Daniel is a seasoned IT professional with 50 years’ experience. He is a graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Griffith University with a Master in Technology Management. He is a Distinguished Fellow and Past President of Hong Kong Computer Society and a Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers. He is the Advisory CIO of Esquel Group leading digital transformation; Esquel is a textiles and garments manufacturer with 54,000 employees in 6 countries, Daniel was Interim Vice-President (Administration) and a Professor of Practice (Computing) of Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2015-17. He was Government Chief Information Officer of HKSAR Government from 2012-14; prior to joining the Government, he was the Head of Information Technology at MTR Corporation Ltd. from 1999 to 2011 where he led many business transformation initiatives; and held senior IT managerial positions with The Hong Kong Jockey Club between 1978 and 1999 playing a key role in its computerization journey. Daniel contributed significantly in promoting the application of IT in Hong Kong, and held many positions in public services and educational institutions. In recognition of his contribution to the development and promotion of IT, he was awarded Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2004. He has received many CIO Awards.
